FOLLOW MY LIFE

My journey began 10 years ago, when everything changed in my life. I finally went to doctor for a check up after 5 years of not thinking I had any problems. My pap smear came back high abnormality, so it started all the worries and anxiety in my life. It was pre-cancer cells and the first procedure was a biopsy which showed the cancer cells, so laser was done. In 6 months had to go back but no change in pap smear and decision was made to have a total hysterectomy, it brought me to tears. I thought this would be the fix of my issues and my pap smear came back slight abnormal and they thought I had not healed yet. But no, I had to go to Doctor every six months for 8 years, 4 cone biopsies, 2 laser, hysterectomy, and chemo cream, I can finally say it is done.  I have had a normal pap smear for the last two years. I have been told that I will still have to have a check up every year which is fine with me, if I am cancer free.
I waited late in life to marry, I thought he was the love of my life and it was in 1984. My first child was born in 1987 and he was a son named Corey, had difficult delivery but he was perfect. Then we waited three years before adding our next son in 1990, named Jarret. He was blue eyed and blonde headed like me. After 16 years of marriage, everything changed, my husband made several decisions without me and  I do not blame him because it was both of us. It was a hard journey for me to become a single mother of two boys but I loved every day of it. 

In 2003, I lost my father and he was the rock who held our family together then in 2006 my mother asked if I would move into the house to take care of her and the house, this was not a difficult decision for me because I promised my dad that I would look after mom.

In 2017, I lost my mother suddenly but I know she missed my dad so much and wanted to be with him. I miss both of them everyday but I know I am being watched over. God is the center of my life and my faith grows stronger every day.
I know there are so many women that have gone through struggles in their life but lets put the past in the past to look forward to what is in front of us. I realized if I did not make changes in my life I would not be around for my grandchildren.

A wonderful friend introduced me to the Keto diet about 6 months ago and my weight started coming off. I realized I need to do more than just the diet and I began to walk every morning at work to help me move forward.  As of January 1, 2019 I have lost 42 lbs and still going. I have joined back my gym to add extra exercise every day because I do not feel like I am getting enough.

I made a decision that a goal I set for myself when I was 22 years old was to do a marathon but I had to have knee surgery. I have come full circle and have decided to do a marathon at least one to two a year. My youngest son is going to assist me with preparing me for this new part of my life and I could not be happier.

The first week of my going back to the gym has been great and I started Monday slow but it is hard for me to start at a slow pace.  I started on the treadmill for 22 minutes for 1.05 miles then increased by Saturday 35 minutes for 1.67 miles.
I know this is just the beginning of my journey but I am going to make it the best I can do which is working out 6 days a week and add in some weight training at least three times a week. I am tracking my work outs on the gym app which is so simple.
I did sign up for my first marathon on February 9th and it is only less than a mile but as I build up my legs and stamina then I will focus on a half a marthon which is 13 miles. I will sign up  for a marathon more in the fall then summer.

This has been a rough week and I have a cold but I still worked out. I only worked out 4 days this week which bothers me.  I missed my goal of 45 minutes because I was having trouble breathing.  I did go 30 minutes for 1.67 miles and I did not get discouraged.
My gym has an app which assist me in tracking my progress along with my fitbit on my steps. Everyday is a new day for me to refocus all my energy on the walking but within the next few weeks I will begin to incorporate more strength training.
I believe you are never alone in your journey in whatever you decide to do and keep pushing forward to hit the goals you want to. "Be stronger than your excuses"

This week was a great week for my workout and I stayed focused to increasing my time on the treadmill because I know it will pay off in the long run. I increased to 45 mins for 2.19 miles and I had to push myself but was very proud of myself.
I enjoy watching everyone pushing themself at the gym and I will listen to my music realizing that each person there has a reason for their journey to get healthy or healthier.
As everyday I get stronger and healthier realizing I should have made these changes long time ago but glad I am finally on the correct path. "Imagine yourself six months from now-Don't stop it will be worth it!"
Finally made it to Week 4 and still doing good but hit some walls to stay focused on my diet. The Keto diet to me feels more like a healthy lifestyle change.

I made a decision to do my Keto Shake for my evening meal because I feel better after my work out to eat something light. My meals consist of good Breakfast and a big lunch with a snack in the afternoon before I go workout.
My Exercise consist of 45 mins on the treadmill for 5 days a week and I added Arms and Ab workouts for 3 times a week.  I am going to add something new to my workout every month to see a change in my body.  "Celebrate the small victories"

My goals seem to change for each week and I added some machine work outs for the abs, glutes and arms. I always push my self more than I should, so the first day after I worked out I was sore but felt good. 
 It is interesting how your head does not agree with your body when you start working out Your head always believe you should see a change but your body tells you it takes a while. I focus more on my body telling me that changes are coming.
 I have not been focusing on my Keto and I can tell because I have hit a plateau for two weeks then it is time to get focused. My goal is to have 10 more pounds before I go to my monthly doctor visit. Whenever I hit the 50 lbs lost then I will celebrate with a new outfit.

I have learned through the years that emotions can play a big role in your eating habits and exercise. I will never give up on what is in front of me and what my weight loss has meant to me. I feel better than I have in a long time but know small steps are the best to acheive them.
I have been so inspired by so many friends and they have reached out to me wanting to know about my weight loss. I have one friend that told me that I inspired her to lose weight by exercise and watching what she eats. This makes me realize what I am doing can change other peoples life by assisting in their journey not just mine.

I cannot believe I am still focusing on my goals because usually by now I give up but I have so many people in my life that has made me feel like I can accomplish anything. It has been important to be a role model to other people to show them that it can be done.

These week my son, Corey has challenged me on the machines, so I am ready for it . I do machine work at least three times a week and I have noticed a change in my body structure. I do my arms, abs and glutes but the weight loss has come to a stop because I am building muscle.

I believe you need to stay positive; you will have some set backs but keep moving forward. Always look at where you are today in your life not what you have not accomplished.

This week has been a difficult week for me and have not gone to the gym except one day but I did get my pilates machine. I have used it and I really like how it works on the core of your body. Our journey change from Day to Day and Week to Week.

I did go off my Keto for a few days but drinking the Happy Coffee has made such a difference in how I am feeling and focusing. I drink my Happy Coffee every morning and take my xanthanmax too. I am still losing the weight and past my plateau and it feels good.

As I start another week, I realize that I need to focus on what I am eating and start getting back to working out but have been over stressed with so many things going on.

I am still drinking my happy coffee which has kept me on track with my weight and eating. I feel better everyday by drinking this coffee and I am going to implement the chocolevate in my shakes for the afternoon to give me the push I need.
